TWO-MAN GIANT SQUID

Two-Man Giant Squid – the post punk quintet hailing from Brooklyn, NY who last year released their synth-heavy, danceable and angular eponymous album to critical acclaim (KEXP, SPIN) – return today with 2 new singles, releasing digitally and landing on a collaboration 7-inch for Trash Casual & Mint 400 Records.

Over the last few years, Two-Man Giant Squid has launched from the New York scene with an ability to fuse dance-punk, indie, and psych influences into packed live shows and ambitious recordings. Their previous LP started a buzz when it was unveiled at last year's SXSW and later found a spot on NACC charts. With a return to SXSW and their first UK dates planned for 2026, Two-Man Giant Squid brings their signature adventurousness to the forefront of today's post-punk revival.

The first of the singles, Love is a skill like painting or taxidermy is perhaps the band’s most serious song to date. Speaking on the origins of the track, Vinokur says “I wrote it for our synth player Sam (Borges), whom I married last September. I was writing this song alongside my vows leading up to the wedding.

The other single is the up-beat and groove centric 3 Hits’. “It tells the story of a band burnt out on getting ahead, asked to open for Wheatus on a boat, and pestered by their agent to deliver 3 hits. It’s our tongue-in-cheek take on what it's like to be a band in modern times when streaming has made music an unsustainable career, AI is running rampant, and the world is just a giant hurling ball of sh*t. Its a true story - we did get asked to open for Wheatus on a boat. We didn’t set out to make a fake beef with them, but here we are. (listen for the rant at 2:45 of the track)
